GEORGETOWN — Police Chief Donald Cudmore is pleased to share that the Georgetown Police Department received 13 LifeVacs as part of a donation from the Georgetown Kiwanis Club.
The Kiwanis Club donated 13 LifeVacs to the Georgetown Police Department on Oct. 19.
Georgetown Police will keep one LifeVac in each cruiser and at the station. This donation will help officers better respond and assist individuals who are experiencing an incident involving choking.
A LifeVac is a choking rescue device that assists in clearing the airway when someone is choking, especially if the Heimlich Maneuver does not appear to be working.
“On behalf of the men and women of the Georgetown Police Department, we would like to extend our sincerest thank you to the Georgetown Kiwanis Club for their generous donation to our department,” said Chief Cudmore. “We are very excited for this donation, as we’ve been looking for a lifesaving device like this for our first responders. We as a department are dedicated to the life safety of our community, and these rescue devices allow us to provide better response and care to our residents.”
