Obituary of Henry C. Chase

Henry Clinton Chase, 102, passed away peacefully at 1:00 PM on Wednesday April 19, 2023. He was born in Lynn, Massachusetts on September 9, 1920, to Charles Benjamin Chase and Laura (Cook) Chase.
He attended Lynn schools and graduated from Lynn English High School in 1938. After graduation he worked for Babcock & Wilcox installing industrial boilers.
In 1942, he joined the Army volunteering for assignment to the 10th Mountain Division. He was sent to the mountains of Colorado for training. The 10 th’s first campaign was in the Aleutian Islands of Alaska where they took back the island of Kiska. He later served in Italy in the Po Valley Campaign where he was awarded the Silver Star. He was discharged in 1945. After his discharge, Henry married his sweetheart, Marian Tarbox, also of Lynn in 1945.
He worked for General Electric in Lynn until the early 1950s, when he joined Honeywell Inc. Thermostatic Controls. He worked for Honeywell for 32 years, retiring in 1982.
He enjoyed camping, fishing, hiking, golf, cribbage, bowling, and skiing. Every day he considered himself blessed for a long and healthy life and a happy marriage. What more could a person ask for? While living in Rowley, Massachusetts, he was a Boy Scout leader while his sons were in scouting. His oldest son became an Eagle Scout. He was involved in the town Little League, served on the Rowley Light Commission for several terms, was involved in Housing for the Elderly and was also a trustee for the First Congregational Church of Rowley. He was predeceased by his wife, Marian, in 2014 and his son, Brian, in 2003.
He is survived by his son, Donald and his wife Deborah of Stratham, NH and his grandchildren, Christopher Chase and his wife Kristin of Portsmouth, NH; Danielle Lemelin Taylor and her husband Joshua of Exeter, NH; Denver Chase and his wife Valerie of Coventry, RI and Benjamin Chase and his wife Abbey of Westbrook, ME. He also leaves his seven great-grandchildren, Olivia Lemelin of Exeter, NH, Dylan Connolly of Portsmouth, NH, Kinsley and Blakely Chase of Coventry, RI, Oliver Chase and Jared and Charlie LaRose of Westbrook, ME.
Visitation and a memorial service will be held at F. S. Roberts & Son Funeral Home, 14 Independent Street, Rowley, MA, on Saturday, May 6, beginning at 10AM with a service at 12 PM. Interment will follow at Rowley Burial Ground.
A reception will be held in First Congregational Church, Main Street. Rowley, parish house following the service.
