Great Bay Tai Chi will be celebrating World Tai Chi and Qigong Day on Saturday, April 29, with free demonstrations and classes for the community, from 10 AM until 12 PM on the Newburyport waterfront, behind the Custom House Maritime Museum.
About World Tai Chi and Qigong Day: https://www.worldtaichiday.org/ABOUTwtcqd.html
World Tai Chi & Qigong Day has been officially proclaimed, recognized, or supported by 22 US Governors; Senates of Puerto Rico, California, New York; the Brazilian National Congress; by consulates and embassies from Italy to the U.S., China to India, and by government ministries and bodies in countries worldwide. Events have been held at the United Nations Building and the Nobel Peace Center.
On the “last Saturday of April” at 10 am local time worldwide, events begin … starting in the earliest time zones of New Zealand where mass Tai Chi and Qigong teach-ins and exhibitions are held that are FREE and OPEN to the PUBLIC. Then, as the planet turns events unfold all across Australia, Asia, Europe, Africa, North and South America, and finally ending this worldwide wave of Qi and health education, with the final events in Hawaii.
The following day, Sunday April 30, will be the official Open House for the Internal Arts New England, the Martial Arts studio that opened in November at 102 Bridge Road in Salisbury. The public is invited to stop by the studio and meet the instructors and check out the new space, also from 10 AM until noon.
The Studio has a full slate of offerings on the schedule this spring. In addition to being the home of Great Bay Tai Chi MA and Newburyport Aikido, other classes include Yoga, Meditation, and other martial arts.
“There is something for everybody” said owner and lead instructor Chris Himmel, “from our Tai Chi for Good Health program, to yoga and meditation, and even a new weapons class. Whether you just want some gentle movement to improve your balance and a chance to socialize, or if you are looking for a deeper dive into the arts of mindfulness or self-defense, you can find it at Internal Arts New England.”
“We are excited about our ability to offer classes at our own home studio, after years of practicing and teaching in leased spaces such as parks and function halls, and it has also allowed us to form partnerships with other organizations, such as the North Shore Insight Meditation Center, to expand the available offerings” said Himmel.
