Essex County Habitat for Humanity Building Affordable Homes in Hamilton

DANVERS – Essex County Habitat for Humanity has announced that applications are available for an affordable homeownership opportunity in Hamilton. Located at 434-436 Asbury Street, a 10-home development will be built to include 1-, 2- and 3-bedroom duplexes on the wooded property. The sale price will be $217,000 or less.

The application deadline is Wednesday, August 31, 2022. Eligible applicants will have incomes up to 60% of area median income which is adjusted for family size and will be chosen by a lottery system.

Families interested in submitting an application are invited to attend one of the following information sessions to learn more:

Tuesday, August 9 at 6pm

In person at Hamilton-Wenham Library

During the information session, potential applicants will learn about Habitat’s selection criteria and how to prepare a complete application. The selection criteria include housing need, ability to make mortgage payments of $1,400 to $1,750/month, and willingness to partner with Habitat, such as participating in the construction of the home and other Habitat projects. 

All homes are designed to be visited by someone in a wheelchair. All Habitat built homes are restricted to income eligible buyers in perpetuity.
