Old Orchard Beach Hiring Summer Police

Wednesday March 16, 2022

OLD ORCHARD BEACH — The Old Orchard Beach Police Department is accepting applications for seasonal police officers for the summer.

Open to residents from any town, the Reserve Officer Program is a great way to gain real-world experience and job training in the field. The starting pay is $22 per hour.

Seasonal officers are led through a series of tests during the hiring process. Candidates must perform a Physical Agility Test and an Alert Test, both of which are state requirements for all law enforcement officers.

While the department offers these tests, applicants also may contact the Criminal Justice Academy at 207-877-8000 for additional testing dates.

“This is a great opportunity for those interested in a career in law enforcement to learn the ins and outs of policing,” Chief Kelley said. “The program is designed to provide training to those with little to no experience. During their time with the department, seasonal officers will gain the skills and knowledge necessary to eventually move on to a full-time career in law enforcement.”

Applicants must:

• Be at least 20 years of age

• Possess an associate’s degree or 60 college credits if they are age 20; college credits are not required for those ages 21 and up

• Pass a Physical Agility Test

• Pass the Alert Test

• Have a valid driver’s license

• Have a High School diploma or GED equivalent

The Law Enforcement Pre-service School (LEPS) three-phase training course is not required, but is preferred. If hired, the department will sponsor enrollment into the course.
