Massachusetts State Lottery and the Boston Celtics Honor Rowley resident Mark Collum as Hero Among Us

Tuesday January 11, 2022

Mark Collum was honored on November 12, when the Boston Celtics faced off against the Milwaukee Bucks. In October, Mark woke up to cries for help from his neighbor’s home, which was on fire. Without hesitation, he ran into the burning home and rescued his neighbor Deb, guiding her to safety through the smoke and flames. They only sustained minor injuries. Mark’s heroic actions are even more notable because 20 years prior, he tragically lost his wife and daughter in a fire that overtook their home in Ipswich. Mark Collum was honored as a Hero Among Us for his courage, bravery, and life-saving actions.

Since its establishment in 1997 by the Boston Celtics, The Heroes Among Us program has recognized outstanding individuals who have made exceptional and lasting contributions to their communities. The award is presented at every Celtics home game and pays tribute to the heroic achievements of these outstanding individuals.
