New MassFishHunt Recreational Permitting System

MassFishHunt – the official recreational fishing, lobstering, and hunting permitting system for Massachusetts – has been upgraded. The new system went live on December 1, 2021. Anglers, hunters, and trappers will be able to buy licenses and permits, report a harvest, and access account information. Recreational saltwater fishing permits and MassWildlife licenses are available online in the new system. 

Setting up your account in the new MassFishHunt is simple. With just a few clicks, you’ll have access to new features, including:

  • Upgraded login with email and password to keep your account secure
  • Linked accounts for families and other groups
  • Auto-renew option to let you set it and forget it to keep your permits up to date
  • Buy-it-again option saves your favorite products for quick checkout
  • Improved mobile experience
  • Sign up for future angler education classes

Resident non-commercial lobster permits are not yet available online. However, they can be purchased or renewed through the mail at either the Gloucester or New Bedford field offices. DMF’s Gloucester Field Office is located at 30 Emerson Avenue, Gloucester, MA 01930. Call the office for more information (978) 282-0308. Resident Non-Commercial Lobster Permitting should be available online in early 2022. All users will need an email address to log into the new MassFishHunt. Requiring an email address and password is an important new feature to keep information safe and secure. For returning customersIf you have purchased a fishing or hunting license in the past, your account information, including customer ID, will automatically transfer to the new system. When you visit the new MassFishHunt site for the first time, you will be prompted to claim your account and add a unique email address and password. Once logged in, you will have access to your order history and any current permits or licenses. You will also be able to purchase new products. If you have never had a permit before, you can easily sign up for a new account by entering some simple information like your name, address, and email. If you do not wish to purchase your recreational saltwater fishing permit online, you can still visit the Gloucester or New Bedford Division of Marine Fisheries office, MassWildlife offices, or one of many authorized license vendor locations to buy in-person.
