Tuesday September 28, 2021

Newburyport – Newburyport Bank has donated $1,200 in support of Historic New England’s Race & Slavery in New England 1700-1870 one-day symposium. Donations are being used for speaker honoraria.

This event will be held on Monday, October 11, 2021 from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm at the Wilkie Center for Performing Arts, The Governor’s Academy, Byfield.  Race and Slavery will take the Museum’s programing to a new level offering a broad base of scholars and historians to reflect on history – particularly that of this maritime, milling, and manufacturing center of New England.

“New England has a deep and rich history, and it’s crucial to study all aspects of it,” said Lloyd L. Hamm, President & CEO of Newburyport Bank. “To examine that history and make sure it’s never forgotten is vitally important and we proudly support the Symposium’s effort to bring it to the forefront.”
