Monday September 06, 2021

The Amesbury Carriage Museum (ACM) invites members of the community to the 36th Annual Meeting. The event takes place on Monday, September 13th from 6:30 to 8:30 PM in the ACM’s new venue, the Industrial History Center which is located in Mill 2 (next to the Flatbread Company) in Amesbury’s Upper Millyard.

The agenda includes a Business Meeting from 6:30 to 7:00 PM to learn about recent progress, hear plans for the future, and meet museum leadership. The program follows with a guest speaker from 7:00 to 7:45 PM. The evening ends with an informal reception with desserts and beverages.

The guest speaker is Isaac Kestenbaum, Director of the Salt Institute for Documentary Studies in Portland, Maine. His talk “Folk History, Community Narratives and Storytelling” covers the 50-year evolution of the Salt Institute which began as a magazine of folk history produced by high school students. Now a graduate certificate program at the Maine College of Art, the Institute is producing some of the more notable names working in journalism today. Mr. Kestenbaum will explore how narrative-driven journalism has built an appreciation of community stories.

A limited number of tickets are available at www.amesburycarriagemuseum.com/events. The cost is $25 for ACM members and $30 for non-members. The event will also be available on Facebook Live, free of charge, visit: www.facebook.com/AmesburyCarriageMuseum.
