Rep Brad Hill resignation letter to the Fourth Essex District Community

Monday August 23, 2021

I am writing to you today to announce that I will be stepping down as the State Representative for the Fourth Essex District on September 15th to take a new position as a Commissioner on the Massachusetts Gaming Commission.

It has been twenty-three years since this district elected me to this position and I cannot tell you how humbled I have been to serve you over those years in the Massachusetts House of Representatives. This opportunity to serve has afforded me the ability to help people in need and pass legislation that has affected citizens throughout the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. I have always tried to listen to everyone’s point of view when deciding how to vote and have always appreciated the working relationships I have had on both sides of the aisle to make this state and district the best it can be.

I certainly could not have done this job without my partners in local government. It has always been a team effort to get funding for the towns I represent as well as help the communities during storms or public safety events. I have worked with numerous Boards, Committees, local volunteers as well as Town Managers and Superintendents. All have been professional and hardworking and I truly appreciate our working relationships to ensure we served our mutual constituents to the best of our abilities.

As I prepare to leave this position, I want to thank my wife Aimee and my two children, Zachary and Courtney for putting up with a very busy elected official. It has not always been an easy endeavor but you all stood shoulder to shoulder with me and I greatly appreciate it. Additionally, I wish every citizen, neighbor, business owner, voter and friend the very best.

In closing, It has truly been the honor of a lifetime to serve this district. Thank you.

Sincerely,

Rep. Bradford R. Hill

Assistant Minority Leader

Massachusetts House of Representatives
