The Rowley Council on Aging (COA) with the Rowley Police Department is offering a free community presentation on “Scam Prevention” at the Rowley Public Library, 191 Main Street, Rowley on Tuesday, August 10, 2021, from 4 P.M- 6 P.M.
Learn information to protect yourself and your loved ones from being scammed out of your money by telephone, email, and door-to-door scams. In 2020, according to the FBI through its Internet Crime Complaint center received 791,790 complaints with losses of $4.1 billion. Of these 28% of total cases were a fraud against victims 60 years of age and older. The 205,301 victims 60 years of age older in 2020 lost an average of $9,175 and 1,921 older adults lost more than $100,000. Massachusetts ranks 16th of the 50 states with the number of seniors 60 and older who have been scammed. Learn skills to prevent falling into a scam.
